Leicester: James Maddison value inaccurate amid Arsenal interest
Arsenal may believe they can secure James Maddison for the inaccurate reported value, but Leicester City are very unlikely to sell for that fee.
We have all got a while longer of transfer talk so we might as well resign ourselves to it! Nobody wants to hear nonstop links to mediocre players; even being connected to world-class stars such as Philippe Coutinho is draining after months or even years of it.
Nevertheless, Foxes of Leicester strives to bring you all apparent Leicester-related news and rumours, whilst relaying our opinions and verdicts on potential incomings, outgoings and the feasibility of prospective deals.
Now, Arsenal are said to have pinpointed James Maddison as their top target; that fact has been widely reported and even the great Fabrizio Romano did not disagree with the suggestion. Articles say the Gunners will only go as high as around £60million to secure the playmaker.
However, that price will not capture him, as FoL sees it. Top Srivaddhanaprabha, King Power boss and owner of LCFC, will surely not accept a bid of that amount: Maddison is thought to be sincerely valued on Filbert Way and is, arguably, currently the most creative Foxes player. If the club doesn’t want to sell, they won’t!
A ridiculous offer for Maddison would perhaps be considered; I assert that means north of £75-80m, possibly beating the Harry Maguire record. There is no talk of Leicester wanting to sell; therefore the £60m quoted by a mere Twitter account and carried by football.london appears to be fanciful. The outlet claims an approach will emerge from the North London side towards ‘Madders’ along with his representatives this week.
Meanwhile, despite Arsenal clearly being a bigger club in support and revenue, Leicester legend Gary Lineker poked fun at the Emirates team in a way that will resonate with the Blue Army. On social media, Lineker appraised the mooted switch for Maddison as a “backwards step”.
