Leicester City face Wycombe Wanderers in their second pre-season outing. Here is all you need to know about the match and how to watch it.

On the 28th July, Leicester City travel to Wycombe Wanders to continue their pre-season. After a rather uninspiring first match, the Foxes will look to impress this time around.

Against Burton Albion, gaining fitness was the priority for the club, so the loss on penalties does not sting too much. That being said, Burton had already played three matches before they got to us.

The same is the case against the ‘Chairboys’. They have already played three matches, which include one draw and two wins. So, you could argue Wycombe are going into this match with the sharpness and form advantage.

Leicester’s previous match

The Burton Albion fixture was not uninspiring for Brendan Rodgers’ men, quite the contrary. During the match, we got to see in action Patson Daka, Ryan Bertrand, and Boubakary Soumare, as well as a plethora of youngsters.

Daka was pacey and explosive, Bertrand defensively solid, and Soumare looked excellent at the more transitional role in midfield.

Soumare would always provide a supporting run or a way for any player to pass to retain the ball, and he would carry the ball from the defensive line before offloading to a more creative talent.

Of course, we also got to see Tawanda Maswanhise, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Thanawat Seungchitthawon, and the returning Kamal Sowah. Leicester’s youngsters were impressive, and their Premier League debuts look closer and closer.

Leicester City’s how to win

For the Wycombe match, there will be to teams for each half of football. These first three fixtures are to give multiple players a chance to impress and earn a spot for the league squad.

I think the team had a weak formation in both halves against Burton, so will need to return to a more assured formation. Be that the 4-3-3 or 4-2-2-2. Then, it is as simple as choosing second team players with a sprinkling of star talent.

The ‘Chairboys’ will be defensive, so the Foxes will need to find penetration and pace if they are to break through. This is where Daka, Harvey Barnes, and Sowah would make the best front three.

Rodgers’ men will need to improve their energy and drive in this match. They have 45 minutes to impress and need to seize that opportunity. Someone needs to take responsibility for setting a higher tempo in midfield. Watch ‘KDH’ and James Maddison in that midfield.
