James Justin

Arguably Leicester’s player of the first half of last season, James Justin’s stellar 2020/21 season came to an end with a cruel ACL injury in the FA Cup win against Brighton in February.

His return is eagerly anticipated as fans wait to see if he can kick on from where he left off; if he does, then surely an England cap will come calling.

Rodgers spoke on the full-back’s imminent return to training, and the progress he has shown in his rehabilitation:

"“We’re looking at some point in October with a bit of luck. He looks fantastic. He’s worked so well and the medical team and sports science team have been delighted with him […] He’s worked tirelessly, I’ve seen him in the gym and he looks very strong, he’s doing a lot of strength work on his leg. That will be a huge boost.” – Brendan Rodgers via the Leicester Mercury"

Wesley Fofana

Speaking of defenders, Wesley Fofana is Leicester’s longest first-team injury, with the young Frenchman suffering a horrific ankle dislocation and fracture during the pre-season fixture against Villareal. Initially fans thought the worst when seeing the replays, and it was though that Fofana wouldn’t play again this season.

Now there is a little more positivity around Little Wes – his Instagram posts and updates have been seriously encouraging to see – and there is thought that we can expect an early Springtime return for the imperious centre-half.

Rodgers didn’t give a specific time when speaking to the Leicester Mercury, but he was encouraged by Fofana’s progress:

"“He’s doing very well He’s coming back home and he’s in great spirits. It’s hugely disappointing for him and for us, but he’s had the operation and it’s gone very well. It’s now just all about his recovery. We look forward to seeing him in a few days when he can come in.” “These injuries can be between four and eight months so we have to wait and see on that. With his ligaments, it will be on the longer side. But it’s still very early.”"
