Caglar Soyuncu’s apology to Leicester City supporters
Turkey international Caglar Soyuncu has given what appears to be a sincere apology to Leicester City fans for the dramatic failure versus Nottingham Forest.
Soyuncu has not covered himself in glory at Leicester for well over a year now. The poor displays have not merely begun this season; and I say that as a fan of his.
Some say the Turk’s downward spiral started in the horrific 4-1 loss to Bournemouth in July 2020. Soyuncu was dismissed and gave a very uneven account of himself; formerly he was as assured as any centre-backs and was linked with superclubs.
This campaign, however, the former Freiburg man’s form has been consistently dreadful. There are also rumours suggesting that he wants to orchestrate a transfer and leave the east Midlands club. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen. The summer shall offer insight or, possibly, give answers on that matter.
Following unspeakable defeat to Forest in the FA Cup, the 25-year-old gave what appeared to be an honest explanation and promise to Foxes supporters:
"“It was highly disappointing for us and very upsetting as players… We always aim to do everything better and we should concentrate better.”“We let the fans down and we sincerely apologise for that. We will do our best now to go back to how we were.”– Caglar Soyunculcfc.com"
Leicester City in Merseyside for Liverpool clash
Brendan Rodgers is being judged by his present performance as boss, and rightly so. There is no room for sentimentality in sport, as we all should know. That is regardless of winning the FA Cup or any other competition, really. Just look at our beloved Claudio Ranieri – he still had to go.
Some people can’t handle the mercenary approach, yet it is the only way forward if success is truly desired. But Rodgers’ time won’t be decreed over on Filbert Way by the LCFC hierarchy if his men lose to the Reds on Thursday evening.
A decision to part company will only emerge should the mood turn more toxic in and around King Power Stadium. A particularly terrible run of results in February would likely seal the Northern Irishman’s fate.
