The country-run club will be looking to vastly improve across the pitch for next season, and it is no surprise our captain is in their sights. Any change at the back for the Foxes could either bring damnation or glory.

Schmeichel is a stalwart who makes startling saves regularly, yet often lacks on the easy chances, or does not make high claims in the box. Any chance is a risk. This being said, it is disappointing to see a potential where Leicester are without the Great Dane. Perhaps it is around time for a new keeper to take his place, but it is questionable who would do better.

Leicester City’s options

There are several options available for Rodgers’ team should the stalwart choose to leave the East Midlands for Newcastle – or anywhere for that matter. First, players at the club. Second, signing a new player. Third, trusting our loanee.

Already at the gaffer’s disposal are Danny Ward, Brad Young, and Chitiru Odunze. Two of these are youth goalkeepers not currently sent out on loan. Ward is a decent shot stopper and has better short distribution than the Danish No.1. However, the Welsh keeper will not be good enough in the long term for the aims of the club. There is no harm though in giving our ‘Wardy’ a chance at top spot for once.
