Freshening things up and scouting a new keeper for the job is admirable, but it can’t be the Brighton shot-stopper! The absolute ridiculousness of it all made us ponder over some of the keepers that can become a viable option ahead of the upcoming summer rebuild if Schmeichel moves out of the club in search of greener pastures.

Three ideal replacements for Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel

Thomas Strakosha- The Albanian international goalkeeper’s contract is coming to a close at Lazio. The Serie A outfit expects him to leave the club as a free agent as neither party has settled for an extension. Strakosha is willing to accept the newly promoted side of Fulham as his next destination if there are no concrete offers from elsewhere.

The areas where Schmeichel struggled are the exact ones where the 27-year-old shines. One of his key areas is the distribution of long passes. Valued at around £6.5 million, he has played for Lazio since 2014 and has participated in 163 games. As goalkeepers have a longer career, we can say that he is yet to hit their peak and develop. Not a bad option to consider, as we have seen a few goalkeepers making it big after jumping from Italy to England.
