Leicester City want Chelsea starlet and Serie A man
Leicester City are monitoring Levi Colwill and Kristjan Asllani as potential signings for the summer transfer window.
The Foxes need to address some areas immediately in the coming months. They have been struggling in the centre-back department for whole of last season as Jannik Vestergaard’s signing has been a complete disaster. The gaffer has also made it very clear that he desires at least two midfielders this off-season after reports of Youri Tielemans and Boubakary Soumare leaving the club.
James Tarkowski, who is available on a free transfer from newly relegated Burnley, was a name that was continuously linked to the club in past windows. But, according to many journalists, he is not a serious target for Brendan Rodgers this time around.
However, a new name has surfaced on this occasion. Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill is having an amazing campaign at Huddersfield Town in the Championship. The 19 year old defender would ideally be a perfect combination with Wesley Fofana at the heart of the defence; or in a three-man setup with Jonny Evans. But the main issue would be regarding the stance of his parent club.
As it stands, Thomas Tuchel’s team themselves are very short at the back because both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are set to leave the club for Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively. There are also growing concerns regarding the future of Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta as they too are linked with moves back to their home country.
Although, under new Todd Boehly ownership they are expected to have a big window in terms of expenditure this time, with an entire new backline expected to be acquired. Henceforth, the availability of this LCFC target depends solely on the intentions of the 2020/21 Champions League winners.
Empoli midfielder Kristjan Asllani is also on LCFC’s radar, though there is another club in England who are said to be admirers. West Ham United are monitoring Asllani and as uncertainty looms over Declan Rice’s future, the Hammers are looking at alternate options in the centre. Earlier this window names like Christian Eriksen, Houssem Aouar and Ibrahim Sangare were connected with a move to King Power Stadium.
These coming days will be very crucial for 2015/16 Premier League champions if they want to compete for the elite spots. Clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle United are already completing captures, meaning competition shall only be tougher than last term.
