Should the Foxes pounce?

Simply put no. Despite being incredibly impressed by the player, we have Soumare and players who can be trained through the youth side or who are on loan (Callum Wright) who can do a similar job if not learn to do so better.

At around £8m in price, Downes would not be an expensive buy and could allow a greater financial focus on other areas of the pitch. Rodgers would still need to sell either Choudhury or Mendy before any move could be made, so he could add much needed depth and quality.

In the event Tielemans remains at Leicester City, the focus has to be on an AM, a RW, and a CB. Unless we are selling both the Belgian and our French midfielder, there is no reason to be rushing for another CM.

If the King Power side can cut out both out-of-favour DMs then they should definitely go for Downes as a cheap quality alternative. After that, in midfield we need that versatile AM/ST Charles de Ketelaere.
