Leicester 0-1 Arsenal: Foxes player ratings
It was a rough afternoon for Leicester City at King Power Stadium as league leaders Arsenal defeated them 1-0. The Gunners were strong defensively as Leicester only got one shot attempt the whole game, which was 35 yards out.
Danny Ward was the man between the sticks as his backline consisted of Victor Kristiansen, Harry Souttar, Wout Faes, and Timothy Castagne. Changes were in the midfield as Brendan Rodgers sent out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Wilfred Ndidi, and Dennis Praet. The inform Kelechi Iheanacho was the sole striker up top as Harvey Barnes and Tete joined him out wide on the wings.
Aaron Ramsdale was the main man in goal for Arsenal. Their backline consisted of Ben White, William Saliba, Gabriel, and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Martin Ødegaard was the attacking midfielder as Granit Xhaka and Jorginho supported him as defensive midfielders. Finally, Arsenal’s attackers included Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard.
Despite their being zero goals, AFC was dominant in the first half. They dominated in possession and were always playing on Leicester’s side of the pitch. The Gunners scored a goal in the 26’ when Trossard nailed a deflection from Ward top right bins. However, White was holding Ward’s hand which caused VAR to overturn the goal. The Foxes struggled to do anything on the attacking end.
Arsenal came out guns blazing in the second half as they scored just 50 seconds into the half. Trossard nutmegged Souttar to get a pass off to Martinelli. The Brazilian then slotted it past Ward to give the Gunners the only goal of the game. The rest of the half consisted of excessive time-wasting from Arsenal as the east midlands team could not do anything with the chances they were given.
