I just took a moment to check Indeed's website to see if there are any vacancies on Filbert Way. And it appears that the manager job at Leicester City Football Club is still filled by Catalonian head coach Marti Cifuentes. All jokes aside, if you have been reading national media headlines and their unadulterated expectations over the previous couple of months, you would probably be surprised that the 43-year-old is still in work. At least at LCFC!
Bloggers and writers such as myself usually propel those forecasts and predictions. This case was no different, I must admit. Although I eventually refrained from telling Leicester's Blue Army to expect Cifuentes' sacking a few weeks ago. Prior to Christmas and New Year, we suspected that the former Queens Park Rangers man would be dismissed on several occasions. He never was.
It became apparent that form and results do not now even necessarily equal or guarantee a team boss's dismissal from King Power Stadium. Wow, how times change. We saw this with Ruud van Nistelrooy; not to mention the strange and awkward stop-gap appointment of ex-Aston Villa gaffer (and supporter) Dean Smith. Funding is the likely reason ill-advised and underqualified coaches keep getting a chance at City - and are seemingly immune from the immediate sack or possibly coerced into a mutual exit.
This is the trio of managers supposedly on Leicester City's radar incase Marti Cifuentes is sacked this month
Khun Top (Leicester's chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha) has done a real number on this club! I am not yet 'King Power-out', as they say, but another few months of this draining escapade and the powers-that-be at LCFC will have convinced me!
If there is a change at the footballing helm, which I am not averse to, the Foxes hierarchy are said to have made their choices:
"The former England midfielder is undoubtedly one of the best available options in the Championship manager market, so it comes as little surprise to see him installed as the current favourite to replace Cifuentes at Leicester, at odds of 3/1. Former Rangers boss Martin is second-favourite at 5/1, with Gary O’Neil up next at 6/1, while ex-Foxes manager Martin O’Neill is also believed to be in the running at 13/2."Football Insider
