A transfer rumour we all expected at some stage finally caught the eye this weekend. I don't know why, but the Blue Army always expect veterans to join the Foxes. Usually we get our chance when they are really pushing it age-wise. This time the East Midlands outfit are linked with signing a former international player who still has a bit of elite time remaining. Yet, a deal feels unlikely on many grounds. Here are three significant reasons why Leicester City won't sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

3 Significant reasons why Leicester City can't or won't sign ex-Liverpool and England star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Injury prone

Over the years, Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered many serious injuries. Only this season he missed the final three games in Turkey sidelined.

Leicester City's financial troubles at odds with payday-seeking player in twilight

Besiktas supposedly want to rid themselves of Oxlade-Chamberlain because of his high wages. He's not actually guaranteed to start there either. Well, City can barely spend any money due to Profit and Sustainability problems.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not the player he once was

Let's be honest about it, there's no point beating around the bush in sport analysis. If 'Ox', as some people like to call him, was still at the top of his game, he'd be playing in one of Europe's top rated five divisions. Even France or Germany would be superior to playing Süper Lig football.

Oxlade-Chamberlain would also surely be in Saudi Arabia getting a true footballing payoff if his abilities shone at present as they once did for the Reds and the Three Lions. Therefore I find this a pretty ill-advised and unlikely transfer.

However, the talent probably remains in him somewhere. Why wouldn't it, age permitting!? So if King Power bosses can pay his wages and the 31-year-old does decide to come to Leicester, I would support a move. Of course, if that hypothetical switch pays off - I'll take it all back too!
