Leicester City face many issues over the summer. Retaining their superior talent is chiefly among them. Signing some talent is another. So turning to the free transfer market is a viable option at the King Power. And City are being tipped to reignite their one-time interest in signing a proven Premier League centre back.
Foxes transfers
Back in January of this year, City were said to be involved in negotiations over a possible swap. That potential deal, which sadly fell apart, would have seen a poorly performing Conor Coady go back to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A move the former Wolves CB was said to be keen on. In addition to Coady going to the West Midlands, the East Midlanders would have welcomed a defender in the 32-year-old's place.
Although an agreement (which Foxes of Leicester approved of) never transpired, LCFC do now need to strengthen at the back. This is because Coady could be leaving soon, along with other centre halves. Wout Faes is 'set to exit' King Power Stadium, for example.
While Jannik Vestergaard might perhaps not even be wanted anymore for financial or strategic reasons. Caleb Okoli is actually connected with a return to Italy as well.
Those hypothetical transfers, if realised, would obviously leave the Foxes very light at the back. So additions, and competent ones at that, are required. Some metal is also needed in the demanding and physical Championship division. A blend of strength, vision and quality is the order of the day. But funding is a problem at LCFC.
Leicester City tipped to reignite interest in signing Premier League centre back
And City could reportedly attempt to lure an ideally proficient and underrated man to Filbert Way for nothing. That's right, Craig Dawson is now available on a free transfer after departing Molineux recently.
"It means, should City still have an interest in Dawson, that they would be able to snap him up for free. That may be helpful amid their issues around Profit and Sustainability Rules and the readjustments they need to make to their finances following relegation to the Championship"Leicester Mercury
As I say, even at age 34, Dawson is capable of doing a job in the XI or from the substitute's bench. He's a goal threat, a combative tackler and is accomplished advancing with the ball.
