Can Khun Top still save his Leicester City legacy?

Today (Saturday, November 15) we ask the fans of Leicester City FC a question they cannot answer yet. But we can present all the facts and expectations, not to mention expert revelations and then make an informed opinion on the matter. That poser is 'whether or not under pressure and now repentant Foxes owner Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha can still save his LCFC legacy?'.

His father's (Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha) place in the club's history and supporters' collective hearts can never be replaced or taken. That is safe! Yet will Top do as he's said: begin to take the Blue Army fan base seriously via constant communication? Will the King Power side's chairman successfully rebuild the team and organisation? And shall we eventually return as a stabilised Premier League outfit?

The Srivaddhanaprabha family have a lot of good in the LCFC bank

Irrespective of what you have heard the occasional fed up and hurt Leicester fan claim, Top cannot ruin his father's legacy on Filbert Way. The incumbent chair may only destroy his own footprint in the East Midlands.

I would go so far as to say that they, in fact, built the modern incarnation of Leicester City Football Club. Those of us who follow the team would almost certainly not have witnessed our beloved side lift the English top flight trophy without their arrival.

Nor would an FA Cup triumph be guaranteed in the previous 15 years. Let's be honest - LCFC didn't win it in the 126 years before the Srivaddhanaprabhas came to Leicestershire. And we were victorious in the competition under Top's watch, pertinently.

Khun Top's Leicester City legacy

Why do I say all this? Well, it's because I have come to the conclusion that we almost owe the ownership group another chance. And, trust me, I was chief among fans and writers criticising how badly the club has been run.

"What Leicester fans have been crying out for for the longest time, and for good reason, is for the club to be more communicative with the fanbase. Top taking that responsibility is a sign that he cares, and that has to count for something."
Kian Long, FanSided Editorial Director

Top has now made a commitment to change. He held his hands up and promised to get Leicester back to where they belong. I'm skeptical, but sort of open minded.

The 40-year-old shouldn't have stayed silent whilst undertaking bad practices for so long. Though we have all made mistakes, I'm sure. This will be Top's last opportunity to steady the ship in the eyes of the faithful.

"Maybe it’s my fault. I used to talk to fans and media but I have responsibilities here in Thailand."

I can't see any real redemption for director of football Jon Rudkin though. At least his involvement in day-to-day footballing matters appears to be over.
