According to a report, and when taking into account what we already know of the situation, Leicester City Football Club are probably planning to sell an unwanted player. It is also claimed that increasingly under pressure LCFC manager Marti Cifuentes is not too keen on the athlete, or that the Catalan doesn't want the Foxes star whatsoever. Various factors are having an impact on this very matter, as you are likely aware.

First of all, City ownership The King Power International Group are suffering from an ailing business in Asia. Secondly and as a byproduct, the East Midlands outfit are dealing with minimal funding. Not to mention reported restrictions or overseeing being employed by a watchful English Football League.

Lastly but certainly not least of all, the Leicester player in question actually has a rapidly expiring contract. His deal will be up in July 2026, meaning City must act now with regards to a new offer. Alternatively the Leicestershire side may well be forced to relinquish their asset for free. Yet the professional, who boasts a £4.3million-a-year salary, does retain some value.

At present, a hypothetical January transfer definitely feels plausible. But who is the man I refer to? Will he be sorely missed on Filbert Way? And is a move on the cards?

Marti Cifuentes supposedly changes mind on rich yet underwhelming Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumare

Soumare has got to go, if you ask me. He's a talent, to be honest. But I'm fed up with his lackadaisical and mediocre defending in the middle. He allows teams to break through the midfield. He can be accused of not tracking back on occasion too.

Besides, the 26-year-old's wages of almost £5m-per-season are totally unjustifiable. That sentiment especially applies considering Soumare is not a regular starter anymore. Though, what's being said in the media of the Frenchman's potential future?

"Martí Cifuentes’ decision not to count on the Frenchman recently could impact his future. The report states Leicester aren’t ruling out the option of a January sale, to avoid losing him for free. This option is said to have ‘gained momentum in recent weeks’."
