Facundo Buonanotte presents his ideal position to Leicester City

The man of the moment for Leicester City is loaned signing Facundo Buonanotte. Now, the Argentine has named his ideal position.

The start of the 2024/25 campaign has been a topsy-turvy one as far as Leicester City is concerned. It took the Foxes a while to pick up their first win of the season but when they did, they made it two on the bounce.

Without a doubt, the standout player has been Facundo Buonanotte. On loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, he has been Leicester's best attacking outlet, scoring three Premier League goals and providing two assists so far this season.

Whenever the Argentine has the ball at his feet, big things are expected to happen. He just has that ability to make the crowd stand up whenever he is in and around the box, an incredible trait to have despite being just 19 years old.

Facundo Buonanotte presents his ideal position to Leicester City

In his interview with The Telegraph, Facundo Buonanotte made some interesting comments about where he would envision his ideal position, given the choice.

Buonanotte explained that he sees himself as a mixture between a number 10 and a number 7. In his own words, Buoanotte said:

"I feel more at ease and comfortable playing in a free role behind the No 9, but if I was to pick the ideal position it would be starting between the centre and the right, coming in from the right with the freedom to move around with the ball,"

Buonanotte finished: “I don’t like to consider myself just as a No 10 or a 7, but somewhere between the two.”

Leicester City fans can certainly understand where Buonanotte is coming from. It is difficult to pinpoint him down to one position. In fact, by doing so Cooper would risk preventing him from showing his full range of attributes.

In the modern era of football, players are expected to cover a wide range of positions. This has clearly been drilled into the Brighton player at a young age, as now he is capable of floating in and out of wide positions. Certainly, Leicester will only benefit from his incredible dynamism.

Going forward, it is hard to imagine Leicester signing Buonanotte on a permanent deal. He is destined for great things and Brighton and Hove Albion are renowned for being difficult to bargain with.

Therefore, the Foxes should not harbour big hopes about meeting his demanded fee. As they say, never fall in love with loaned players.
