Gary Rowett has nothing to lose as Leicester City manager, as he prepares to name his first Foxes team since relegation.

Indeed, the fate that many expected to occur has finally been confirmed for the ex-Premier League title winners, off the back of a 2-2 draw with Hull City on Tuesday night.

With Rowett reportedly set to walk away in the summer, too, it will be very intriguing to see what his team selection is for the upcoming clash with Millwall, who harbour promotion aspirations, at the opposite end of the Championship table.

Rowett could surprise with his team selections

Leicester showed some fight in patches against the playoff-chasing Tigers, with a flurry of second-half goals for the hosts, giving them some momentary belief that they would win, to live another day in the Championship.

Rowett is likely to stick by Jordan James for the visit of Millwall, as he attempts to pull off an upset against his ex-employers, with the Rennes loanee continuing to be a bright spark, when the mood has been terrible as of late, by bagging a penalty against Hull.

In the other attacking positions, Rowett must surely be tempted to throw the likes of Jeremy Monga into the first-team frame, with the homegrown 16-year-old rumoured to be on the move in the summer, as Liverpool even reportedly have the teenager on their shopping list.

Moreover, he could be tempted to give Harry Souttar a runout, potentially, with no must-win contests on the horizon anymore, with Souttar needing to prove himself to the King Power fanbase, after so many injury problems as of late.

Monga isn't the only youngster deserving of a late-season runout, with Rowett presumably fed up with the set of senior prima donnas he has had to work with.

After the demoralising outcome of the game on Tuesday, Rowett said, rather brazenly, that if members of his squad weren't committed to keep going until the end of the season, they should 'let me know' so they're not picked.

This is a damning indictment of a squad that has - frankly - given up, with the one-time Oxford United boss perhaps looking to the likes of Louis Page for the remaining games, instead, for a positive injection of youth.

Recently picking up the EFL Championship Apprentice Of The Season Award at the EFL awards, with James also a deserved winner in his own select Young Player of the Season category, Page is surely deserving of more fully fledged senior chances, now that the season is dead and buried.

The 17-year-old even scored last time out for the U21s, to continue his stellar development behind the scenes, with the number 25 previously exposed to 19 first-team appearances, too.

Therefore, it wouldn't be the most shocking development in the world if Rowett ripped up his usual starting XI selections to accommodate the very promising youngster, with Page capable of playing as a holding midfielder or as a more attacking number ten.

He could have a big role to play next season, when Leicester grows used to their new League One environment, with the next generation coming through at the former Premier League winners potentially benefiting from the club's sad demise.
