Marti Cifuentes has done all right since first sitting in the hot seat at King Power Stadium. The latest Leicester City manager didn't have an easy transition on Filbert Way or at the Seagrave Training ground. The Catalan merely had approximately half of a preseason schedule and minimal time on the practice pitches. Then the former Queens Park Rangers head coach was only given a few recruits, although they are decent loanees, in the final moments of the transfer window.
However as I say, the gaffer is doing OK with what he has to work with in our view. Although, going by form, the wins have dried up somewhat for the Foxes. Cifuentes has now overseen three consecutive draws in his capacity as team boss. Not good. At least a couple of those matches were against beatable opposition; I would consider all three winnable matches, as a matter of fact!
So, while I think progress is being made in LE2 to an extent, a loss at home versus the ambitious, Hollywood-backed Wrexham would be difficult for Cifuentes to justify. That's because City are arguably the better side on paper; LCFC also have the definite ambition of promotion via automatic placement or the Playoffs. But which statistics and facts took our attention before the two clubs meet for the first time in 43 years? Some incredible Leicester stats have emerged prior to the Red Dragons Fixture.
Wrexham have only defeated Leicester City once in their entire history
The last and only occasion when Wrexham got the better of Leicester was 49 years ago. The date? Sep 1, 1976. Gareth Davies netted for 1-0 at the Racecourse Ground. Wow.
The East Midlanders are unbeaten vs the Welsh outfit over the six outings since the aforementioned loss. City's record in this instance is as follows: four victories, three draws, and a single defeat.
