I have two Leicester City-related stories to discuss with the Blue Army today (Friday, October 31). It is indeed Halloween, but I'll try not to terrify our readership with scary tales of the Foxes' current form. Rather than do that, I can actually bring an uplifting matter to your attention before the weekend. And this particular piece of news is a long time coming, with a long-term injured Leicester centre back finally due back.
As well as a potentially important or impactful piece of fitness information to cover, there is more. However, the other story will cause more concern to the LCFC faithful. That's because a claim City head coach Marti Cifuentes made is arguably invalid. The topic was already a worry prior to the former Queens Park Rangers gaffer potentially illuminating the problem and consequently making it worse.
Cifuentes' narrative about chance creation and, ultimately, goalscoring has been challenged. But what do we think about that point and the previous one?
Leicester Mercury throw cold water on Marti Cifuentes claim
This is definitely an interesting statistic from LCFC Live writer Jordan Blackwell. Essentially, the confusion is over a quote the Catalan made regarding how many opportunities on goal Leicester create in any given match.
The City boss suggested that he's not concerned that his strikers' finishing is currently impotent. That's due to goals being shared around between the squad. In addition, he asserts that his men are in fact creative.
However, Blackwell wrote this of the boss's declaration:
"However, it could be argued City are not creating chances to the degree they should be doing. Opta have City’s expected goals total at 13.3 for the first 11 fixtures, putting them 12th in the division. They’ve actually been improving – they were 16th at the start of the month – but need to rank much higher before they can confidently claim they’re creating enough opportunities."Leicester Mercury
Harry Souttar's Leicester City comeback expected soon
Souttar was injured on loan to Sheffield United and hasn't played since. He actually ruptured his Achilles tendon on Boxing Day 2024.
Although, the wait for the towering Australia National Team representative to return is almost over. Regardless of the speculation over his immediate future, Souttar could be in action next month, according to this report:
"City also have Harry Souttar coming back from injury, with the Australia international due to return to training by next month."
