Last week a proverbial transfer bombshell was figuratively dropped on Leicestershire. But this shock could end up being more of a glitter bomb than the Atomic Bomb for the Blue Army - if goals are in store for Leicester City Football Club! You see, fairly well-known striker Michail Antonio was linked with the LE2 side just before they defeated Ipswich Town at the weekend.

Incidentally, City were thoroughly convincing in that match. We will never know if fans and the squad were buoyed by the claim that the former West Ham United centre forward could be joining the Foxes, and whether or not that contributed to the Tractor Boys' demise. Though that scenario is a definite possibility. To be fair, we have seen signs that City are turning a corner under head coach Marti Cifuentes.

If the LCFC players did not get a lift from the news (major sources confirmed it to be true) that a goalscorer boasting prowess was practicing at Seagrave Training complex with a view to signing for Leicester - the support certainly did. But now we want to know more about Antonio and how his audition is going, so to speak. Not to mention if an agreement is in the offing. Luckily, the gaffer recently spoke of the situation.

Are Leicester City going to sign Michail Antonio, as boss Marti Cifuentes gives the thumbs up?

According to multiple national media sources including The Telegraph, The Times, as well as local paper and outlet Leicester Mercury, Antonio is impressing in training. For those of us who have watched the Jamaica National Team representative on many occasions, that is no surprise.

It is said that the Foxes hierarchy are weighing up whether to offer Antonio a contract or not right now. While stating that the player has wide experience, Cifuentes detailed the trial period:

"He’s a good football player. He comes from a period without a team, but he’s been training only a couple of days with us and he’s been looking good. He's a good lad to have around as well. Asked if Antonio was showing any effects of last year’s car crash, Cifuentes said: “Not at all. He’s looking good in that sense. It would take some time (for match fitness) because he has been away for a long period.

“It’s never easy. It doesn’t matter how hard you train, the level in games is different. But he’s looking good. It’s something we’re discussing. We’re having a look and he’s happy to train with us. We'll see."
