The Foxes were defeated in the Championship by Preston North End at the weekend. Though that loss isn't the King Power outfit's only worry at the moment. Subsequent to the match, Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes gave a timely injury update on his captain for the second fixture in succession amid Ricardo Pereira's absence. The Catalan was, of course, speaking of City right back James Justin. The one-time England international is said to be in what is being described as 'advanced discussions' with the Peacocks recruitment department at present.
Evidently, longing Leeds fans will love the update the former Queens Park Rangers head coach gave following the final whistle. For some reason, the Whites support have not noticed Justin's many problems. Alternatively, the Leeds fan base just simply choose to ignore all of the defender's shortcomings. With one-year remaining on the 27-year-old's contract, City might just get a result in the transfer market if not on the pitch!
Leicester City manager offers information on makeshift Foxes skipper James Justin's fitness and the less well-informed sections of the Leeds United faithful will be pleased
Obviously those of us in the Blue Army who are somewhat in the know, or who strive to keep a very keen interest in Filbert Way happenings, are under no Justin illusions. Although talented, he was arguably the worst LCFC defender last season. He was one of many who really let the side down!
With his Leicester deal expiring, most of the knowledgeable City fans would advocate a transfer in this case. A few of us were then worried to see Justin limp off against Preston on Saturday afternoon. Could the Leeds agreement be thwarted? Would similarly potential suitors Everton be off the hook then, too? Possibly.
However, thankfully for the footballer and his wishes for a 'starting role' at Elland Road, he doesn't appear to be badly injured. Cifuentes seemed optimistic in his assessment:
"JJ unfortunately got a kick on the leg. The medical team is assessing. I don’t know exactly what the outcome is. Hopefully it’s not an injury, or a big injury at least."
