Leicester could look to this hotshot to fill the Jordan James void

If Leicester City supporters had to vote on their Player of the Season recipient right now, Jordan James would be the clear frontrunner to pick up the accolade.

After all, with ten goals under his belt this season in the Championship, the one-time Birmingham City star sticks out as the Foxes' top goalscorer for the campaign, with Abdul Fatawu just lagging behind, on nine.

The 21-year-old has also won himself much acclaim at the King Power for his spirited and committed performances, too, away from lighting up the division with goals and assists aplenty, having won a robust 12 duels across March in the second tier.

Unfortunately, while he was largely everpresent across March for Gary Rowett's men, he will likely have to sit out the start of April, and beyond, to the dismay of the Leicester fans who have so easily fallen in love with him.

Indeed, he went down with a nasty looking injury, while on international duty with Wales against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with how long he could now be out of action for, remaining up in the air, to further pile on the Leicester anxiety.

Rowett will surely have a plan up his sleeve as to who he could rely upon to fill the void left by the Welshman's untimely absence, with Manchester City youngster Divine Mukasa sticking out as perhaps the best possible temporary fix.

How Mukasa could fill the void

It's going to be a tall order to immediately replace James' ability to change games at a moment's notice, but Mukasa has stood out as an exciting James-like livewire when thrown into contests this season.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who has gained England U19 caps over the break alongside the likes of fellow Foxes youngsters Lorenz Hutchinson and Jeremy Monga in other age brackets, has managed to pick up a stunning two goals and three assists in league action, from only five starts.

The lively number 29 hasn't look out of his depth whatsoever in the wearying Championship, with Mukasa confidently smashing home this effort against Tonda Eckert's promotion-chasing Southampton, on his debut.

Since then, he's had to make do with spurts in and out of the first team picture, with an extended run in the side in the number ten role - with James potentially in the treatment room for some time - possibly getting even more out of the slick 18-year-old talent.

After all, two back-to-back league starts towards the close of February against Stoke City and Middlesbrough saw one goal and two assists fall into the teenage starlet's lap.

Once noted as being Man City's "best academy player" by journalist Nassali Sandrah, it looks as if Mukasa is finally cutting his teeth at a senior level with the Championship side, after so many seasons of ripping it up on the youth pitches at the ten-time Premier League winners.

He will certainly go down in Leicester folklore if he manages to play a big part in Rowett and Co. dramatically beating the drop, as a new hero is born, from the disappointment of James' injury situation.
