On Friday evening Leicester City travel to The Hawthorns to face Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in the Championship. The Foxes are currently three places above the Baggies, yet the home side are considered favourites in one or two areas and predictions. We will be producing our injury roundup, statistical overview and predicted lineup for the Blue Army later on today. So stay tuned on our website for that one.
But this article concerns how certain squad members have got on over the course of this early stage of the campaign. We will mention one or two players who could do a little better. Not to mention naming which professionals have let the side down at all, if and when applicable. In addition to doing that, we shall also briefly examine who has stood out or beaten expectations in that respect.
In my opinion, a few fans of the King Power team might perhaps be shocked at the choice Marti Cifuentes made for one of the season's best performers so far. Let's see exactly what the former Queens Park Rangers head coach said. Disclose whether we agree. And explain why the selection could be odd or polarising to some readers or City supporters.
Some Leicester City fans may be a bit surprised that Marti Cifuentes chose Luke Thomas as a standout star
You definitely don't think of Thomas when considering Leicester's fan favourites or best players. I'll tell it how it is. Although, he has made specific writers such as myself eat my words recently.
The full back has improved, a lot. And I put that down to two factors: confidence and the comfort of solidifying a role. He is now the first-choice left back over Victor Kristiansen.
We would have liked to see more from Stephy Mavididi and Jordan Ayew. Oliver Skipp could lose his spot. Jordan James is one to keep your eye on. I'd say Abdul Fatawu is outstanding overall.
And Thomas's performances haven't gone unnoticed. Particularly where his manager is concerned:
"Fellow graduate Luke Thomas also signed a new deal, with Cifuentes saying that the 24-year-old is "one of the best performers" in the squad."
