It's yet to be officially confirmed on the club's social media, but Russell Martin is set to be Leicester City's new manager, as the Foxes embark on their first season in League One since 2008.
In 2008, the Scotsman was still in the relative infancy of his playing career with Wycombe Wanderers, but fast forward nearly 20 years later, he will be the manager attempting to guide the Midlands giants to promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
It's an appointment that has been met with a lot of scepticism, with Martin a colossal failure at Rangers in his last managerial post, but he is an EFL-experienced boss, having won promotion to the Premier League with Southampton in 2024.
There would been a lot more vocal doubters if Leicester had decided to go down this shock other route, as another managerial target on their shortlist has come to light...
Leicester's surprise managerial contender
Leicester have been linked with some surprise names, ever since it was confirmed that Gary Rowett would not be sticking it out at the King Power helm.
Indeed, Rene Hake was in the running for a while to be Rowett's successor, which would have been an interesting next step for the Dutchman, having only ever been an assistant manager in the English game at Manchester United.
While the Foxes' interest in Hake has been well-known for a bit now, the news that Leicester had been keen on appointing Jack Wilshere arrived like a bolt from the blue, when BBC Sport reported on the fact that the Luton Town boss had been approached in recent weeks to replace Rowett.
Obviously more instantly recognisable for his playing career with the likes of Arsenal, Wilshere has begun to carve out a name for himself as a manager, too, with the 34-year-old even hoisting the EFL Trophy aloft last season during his debut season in the Hatters dug-out.
Despite Leicester's gigantic stature for League One, BBC Sport did follow up to state Wilshere was not interested in taking up the vacancy, with Martin set to be unveiled very shortly.
If Martin is an appointment that is being met with some criticism, handing Wilshere the reins would've been a decision that was met with even more befuddlement, as the 34-year-old hasn't quite earned his managerial stripes just yet to be thrown into the deep end of the King Power job.
Wilshere could have been out of his depth
It's the in-thing at the moment to give a former player who performed at the very top a chance in management, with Kieron Dyer just handed the chance to get stuck into management at Southend United.
It would have been risky appointing Wilshere, that's for sure, as he has only 43 games under his belt as Luton's boss.
There are encouraging numbers from his short time at Kenilworth Road to date, with 22 wins collected from those 43 outings, but the pressure of instantly getting Leicester up to the Championship would've surely been too much too soon for the up-and-coming tactician.
Martin is definitely in the more safe category, with the Scotsman - who likely lined up against Wilshere once upon a time when he was still a defender - boasting 269 games as a manager, even if his fortunes have been up-and-down.
Leicester fans will need to get behind the 40-year-old, as it's clear he is the Foxes' chosen man.
When League One action gets underway, Wilshere will be attempting to get the better of his opposite number, as Luton potentially goes head-to-head with the one-time Premier League champions for promotion.
