Leicester have to put horrid memories of Fratton Park behind them on Saturday

Leicester City will need to put some abject memories of Fratton Park behind them as they travel to Portsmouth seeking out a much-needed victory.

Leicester City's away record in the Championship has left a lot to be desired.

Only four wins on the road have been collected all season long, from 21 overall away outings, with the Foxes' last away win in the division coming when Marti Cifuentes still occupied the helm.

Indeed, that was a sublime 3-1 victory at Pride Park, as Leicester raced into a shock three-goal lead within the first 31 minutes.

Since then, it has largely been miserable on the road, and that hasn't changed during Gary Rowett's frustrating tenure to date.

Rowett's unimpressive stint as Leicester boss

Rowett's know-how in the EFL was meant to steer the Midlands side away from relegation danger.

Instead, he has arguably plunged the Foxes deeper into their relegation misery, with only one win collected from ten games.

That win was against Bristol City at the King Power, meaning he is yet to taste a win away from Leicester's own stomping ground.

He really should have two away wins under his belt, though, as a Patson Daka penalty miss at Watford meant his lowly team had to settle for a 0-0 draw in late March.

Moreover, countless missed chances and a superhuman display from Pierce Charles meant a 1-1 draw at bottom of the table Sheffield Wednesday had to be stomached.

The appointment of Rowett has gone down as a flat move in the end, as opposed to being transformative, and Leicester's recent history at Portsmouth - who they play away from home on Saturday lunchtime - doesn't bode well for the ex-Birmingham City manager in turning around his dire away day fortunes.

Leicester's grim recent history at Fratton Park

Much like Leicester, Portsmouth used to be viewed as a Premier League regular, with the clubs both sharing FA Cup honours, too.

But, right now, they are both fighting to keep their Championship statuses intact, and the numbers suggest Pompey should come out on top on Saturday on the South Coast.

Indeed, Leicester haven't beaten John Mousinho and Co. in their last five meetings, with three 1-1 draws on the spin.

Back in 2010, as well, the Foxes were badly beaten when making the lengthy journey down to Fratton Park, as Liam Lawrence, David Nugent, Dave Kitson and Michael Brown all got in on the goalscoring act for the hosts in a punishing 6-1 defeat.

Leicester boasted some memorable names in their lineup that day, as the likes of Lloyd Dyer and Andy King started, but the Foxes would only have a late consolation to shout about when Steve Howard scored late on.

Leicester's last win on their travels to Pompey stretches all the way back to 2003, when the sides were Premier League staples together, as Marcus Bent and Les Ferdinand bagged the all-important goals in a 2-0 win.

Rowett would love to have a striker of Ferdinand's goalscoring acumen in the here and now, as he hopes Daka packs his shooting boots, instead of fluffing his lines again, like at Vicarage Road.

Plenty of eyes will be on developments at Fratton Park at the weekend, as it looks like the result will have huge ramifications on the relegation battle to follow.
