We have big news for Leicester City's Blue Army fan base this weekend. That's right, you've guessed it! The Foxes are supposedly in talks for a certain former Premier League manager to take over at King Power Stadium. What are reports suggesting on the matter? What do we think - is this the right man for the job? And how likely is an agreement to be forthcoming? Let's waste no time and get to it!
Leicester City are said to be in talks for this well-known manager to take over at King Power Stadium following Ruud van Nistelrooy's apparently mutual departure
The Foxes have already played one friendly without a full-time manager in place. Thankfully club legend Andy King was on hand to control the team. Although, there is a seemingly massive update with respect to the vacancy on Filbert Way.
According to supposedly exclusive information emanating from Football League World's sources, City have held discussions regarding their top job with Chris Wilder. The ex-Sheffield United boss won't be the most popular possible choice for Leicester.
"Leicester are seemingly making movements when it comes to trying to find Van Nistelrooy’s replacement though, and FLW has been told that one individual that has held talks with the hierarchy at the King Power Stadium is Chris Wilder."FLW
Is Chris Wilder the right man for the Foxes?
No offence to the Sheffield-born gaffer, but I'm not sure he's the appropriate long-term appointment. I am sure the majority of the Foxes support will agree, and I am all too happy to explain my reasoning there.
Wilder could, nevertheless, possibly be the ideal candidate for the Championship. Before now, he has led a side back to the English top flight from similar doldrums that City find themselves in at present.
Though it hasn't worked for Wilder in the EPL during his previous two cracks at the world's best division. However, the 57-year-old did manager to guide the Blades to ninth Premier League position in the 2019/20 season. Maybe he can stabilise LCFC for now, but I'm unconvinced regarding longevity.
