Leicester have enjoyed a great pre-season whilst battling lower league sides, and their own now fairly low division opponents. First of all, the Foxes defeated Northampton Town at Seagrave.
​Then the East Midlanders traveled to Memorial Stadium to play Bristol Rovers where they also won. Finally, before jetting off to Spain for a sunny training camp, the Foxes beat Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium.
Now that they have reached mainland Europe, Russell Martin is turning things up a gear. Not that the former Southampton, Rangers, MK Dons and Swansea City boss wasn't already turning the screws on the Leicester squad.
Indeed, observers better believe that the LCFC fan base was determined to see that roster put through its paces after three relegations in four seasons! Albeit most of the former Foxes they wanted running to the ground like Harry Winks and Jannik Vestergaard had already left.
Therefore it is now Leicester's promising youths, and a few remaining straggler seniors, who may also be sold alongside one or two star defenders. Of course, standout wingers Abdul Fatawu and Jeremy Doku left for good prices before now.
Meanwhile, the Leicestershire side have set up base in southern Spain during their warm-weather tour. Their remaining friendly fixtures on Iberian soil see them face Cádiz and Málaga.
Both uncompetitive clashes take place at Estadio Nuevo Mirador in Algeciras. Upon returning to England, the Foxes will host Serie A side Genoa at King Power Stadium before the season proper begins.

Speaking of the struggling and straggling elder professionals who remain with City, Woyo Coulibaly, Hamza Choudhury and Bobby De Cordova-Reid have missed a bit of action due to fitness or injury issues. First of all, Coulibaly; this writer actually rated and wanted to see more of the full-back/wingback prior to his outgoing loan.

The 27-year-old has some class, composure and forward-thinking skill. All of which regularly lacked on Filbert Way and in away games, though he is currently nursing a minor issue that could see him return later in the trip.
Choudhury is one who many place in the bad influence category - yours truly concurs. A fresh break was best for all parties, yet the midfielder has added to the treatment room after taking a knock during the win at Burton Albion.
"The manager explained the midfielder had been carrying a small issue and then received a kick.
He said Choudhury impressed in 40 minutes but would be monitored to manage the problem."
Finally, De Cordova-Reid; somebody who could clean up in division three, so to speak. The Jamaican has also been sidelined with a minor complaint after featuring in the opening friendly, with manager Martin hoping both he and Coulibaly can feature before the Spanish double-header concludes.
