Leicester City's preseason ended last week. The Foxes then began their Championship campaign with a home win against Sheffield Wednesday. New manager Marti Cifuentes appears to know what he's doing; if games spiral, he's prepared to alter his side. Yet there is less success on either side of the transfer front, and the treatment room has a few usual suspects admitted at present. News on Foxes captain Ricardo Pereira's injury is on the way.
Meanwhile only a single, underwhelming signing has transpired, not to mention City stars seemingly queueing up to leave. LCFC have also lost their vital set-piece coach. The staff member in question actually left for a National Team role. Which outfit did the ex-City man join? And when can we expect the Portuguese right back to return from his most recent setback?
Ricardo Pereira injury update
James Justin started on the right side of defence vs Wednesday, with Luke Thomas on the left. When LCFC skipper Ricardo makes his latest comeback, one of the previously mentioned players will probably drop out of the starting lineup.
I never thought I'd say this, but I probably prefer Thomas to Justin right now. The latter was rocky on the few occasions Sheffield Wednesday attacked him at the weekend.
"While the Carabao Cup tie at Huddersfield on Wednesday may come too soon for him, the right-back is not far away from a comeback."Leicester Mercury
The England international also somehow managed to get flustered in possession under minimal pressure. The Portugal man is now back training and pushing to feature, says Cifuentes:
"Ricardo started to train with the group today and he felt good. Hopefully we are not far from seeing him."
Leicester City lose crucial coach to National Team
Leicester's set-piece coach Andrew Hughes has departed the King Power. He's joined Scotland's backroom staff.
Steve Clarke chose Steven Naismith for his team as well. They play Denmark and subsequently Belarus in September.
Clarke noted Hughes' pedigree following stints at Norwich City and LCFC. The former thanked Cifuentes for allowing the exit too. Expect City to hire a replacement for the supposedly vital, modern role.
