For some reason, Leicester City disappointment Stephy Mavididi is still attracting some transfer interest. Yet the Foxes winger was not always labelled disappointing.

Mavididi actually enjoyed a great season with Enzo Maresca's team in 2023/24. During that English Football League Championship campaign, the Englishman notched 19 goal involvements in 46 outings.

At that stage as a Fox, the former Montpellier and Juventus man (who was also at Arsenal but didn't make a senior appearance for the Gunners) was then an LCFC favourite. Sadly, Mavididi is somewhere between a forgotten man and a derisive figure on Filbert Way at the moment.

However, the Derby-born baller recently showed that he still possesses an eye for goal in the friendly contest versus Northampton Town recently. Though he was also cited or lightly ridiculed by Leicester's Blue Army support for appearing fairly unconcerned nor pleased upon scoring the opener in that practice game.

Nevertheless, Mavididi would more than likely revitalise his LE2 standing by dominating in League One, although the question of whether his ceiling has been reached at this level remains. Knowing how the 28-year-old's form often fluctuates when facing higher-tier opposition, maybe allowing hungrier youngsters like Riley Carr or Jake Evans to take over would be fruitful and prudent.

That decision would also probably mean that Mavididi's presumably expensive wages are removed from LCFC's unpalatable books, not to mention City realistically receiving a potentially fair fee for their asset to reinvest elsewhere.

Letting Stephy Mavididi leave Leicester City

According to journalist Mark Hendry, Rangers have contacted the King Power club about a potential deal to bring the attacker to Ibrox. The Glasgow giants would reportedly be willing to pay £7 million to secure his signature.

Indeed, that valuation suggests that Leicester may, inexplicably, be able to negotiate an even more lucrative price, potentially pushing towards that £10m mark as interest intensifies. The Scottish Premiership would also provide the right environment for Mavididi to rediscover his clinical touch, though that eventuality obviously remains to be seen with Rangers fans appearing unkeen.

The Foxes hierarchy now faces a definitive choice regarding a player who has struggled to maintain momentum. Selling a depreciating asset while demand exists from a historic club like the Glasgow outfit is objectively the most sensible course of action for City.

Leicester fans will undoubtedly watch the unfolding situation with keen interest as the summer window nears its conclusion. A cash injection of this magnitude would be invaluable.
