Leicester City Football Club's executives created a problem. A big problem! Due to financial mismanagement and a whole host of counterproductive, even rule-breaking decisions, the Foxes must now gut, so to speak, a massive amount of their squad.
Luckily for LCFC's Blue Army fan base, the current roster is almost entirely overpaid and underperforming. Unpalatable. Therefore, losing, selling, replacing or loaning most of them is not something that has upset Leicester's support too much. Rejuvenation.
Yet there are still a few stars of LE2 whom the City faithful would rather keep. The support definitely does not wish to see any of these players, not even ones they do not admire, sold inexpensively in order to satisfy King Power mistakes.
However, negotiating decent prices for sales is, as a matter of fact, one of the elements the East Midlands outfit often get right. Startling, yes, but also true: one of the few positive perceived aspects of Jon Rudkin's persona is actually being a ruthless negotiator and essentially telling the chairman what he thinks is best.
Leicester City defender Ben Nelson to Torino?
Another up-and-coming Fox who will probably be sacrificed is Ben Nelson. Ironically, Foxes fans were expecting centre back Caleb Okoli to switch to Serie A, yet it is fellow centre half Nelson who could sign for Torino as the Italian organisation enters talks to secure his services.
"Torino are in negotiations with Leicester City for central defender Ben Nelson, claims Sky Sport Italia, with a €7m asking price."Football Italia
Sky Sport Italia suggests LCFC have slapped a healthy £6 million valuation on the Englishman. Nelson's often elegant, ball-playing style has seen Manchester United actually linked with a move too, suggesting the City's valuation is grounded in genuine market intrigue rather than mere desperation.
