Leicester's worst-case Cifuentes scenario just became a reality

'The grass isn't always greener on the other side' is a well-known English proverb supposing that one's jealously, envy or desire for somebody else's possessions and situations may ultimately be misplaced. Meaning that while we covet that what we don't possess - the wanted items or scenarios might perhaps not turn out to be as good as initially assumed. In this case, another extremely popular phrase also applies: 'you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone'.

But why has a Leicester blogger referenced those two famous, old adages in an article that is yet to be explained? Allow me to explain as we (again) discuss the unappetizing possibility that arguably unsuitable ex-Rangers and Southampton gaffer Russell Martin could be appointed at King Power Stadium. Martin is, of course, currently being mentioned as a potential successor to Marti Cifuentes in some sections of the media.

Why the majority of Leicester City supporters would reject the idea of Russell Martin succeeding Marti Cifuentes in LE2

The under pressure and extremely awkward LCFC hierarchy (who recently apparently required extra security to take care of chairman Aiyawatt 'Khun Top' Srivaddhanaprabha on Filbert Way) may actually consider Martin a viable managerial choice to take them back to the Premier League. If they eventually do so, our ownership will have proven themselves to be far more out of touch than I first imagined.

Whilst Martin isn't exactly unqualified for the main LCFC position, he is unpalatable to vast swathes of Leicester's Blue Army fan base, I'm sure! You see, the 39-year-old sought and secured promotion to England's first division in his initial attempt with the Saints.

That gives the Brighton-born gaffer credence with respect to City's (currently failing) task this season. Although Martin's Southampton were atrocious in the EPL. Awful!

The once Peterborough United, Norwich City and Wycombe Wanderers player unfortunately and stubbornly refused to alter his style of playing from the back to the club's detriment. Things went even worse for Martin in Scotland's. Keeping Cifuentes appears cheaper along with preferable at this unsavoury moment.
