What Leicester ignored might be biting them in the backside already

Leicester City Football Club are seemingly one of the most disorderly sporting organisations in the counrty at present. Obviously Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday (in particular) have been extremely badly run or underfunded they find themselves in their respective positions. Though the aforementioned teams are said to currently be restricted, as well as potentially under embargo in one case.

While City have apparently avoided those exact restrictions (for now), the Foxes are increasingly expected to be deducted points. In addition to that possible measure, LCFC could receive a rather detrimental appearing transfer ban too. Not to mention the East Midlanders expecting a hefty fine to materialise should their Profit and Sustainability case with the Premier League end in tears.

Sadly these scenarios and shortcomings do not end with the playing side of things, nor with potential future personnel purchases being affected. The askew Foxes finances obviously impact a whole lot more than buying players: how talented, expensive and reputable of a boss you can hire. Last season it was widely reported that City had to retain their own failed manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, for longer than they planned.

The King Power International Group (who own and operate LCFC) were allegedly struggling to sack the former Manchester United man. As a matter of fact, the Leicester hierarchy couldn't afford to do that or then appoint another expensive gaffer during 2024/25.

Therefore I would now like to expand on how Marti Cifuentes' situation is actually similar to that of RvN. The ex-Queens Park Rangers man may be staying on Filbert Way while superiors delay his dismissal due to the previously outlined financial problems.

Groundhog Day at Leicester City

This moment could well be Leicester's own Groundhog Day. The LE2 outfit most likely want to rid themselves of Cifuentes by now.Though that eventuality could be on hold indefinitely, as LCFC's awkward business dealings come back to haunt again:

"He [owner, Top] is also understood to have mentioned the club’s finances. Paying off another manager will put a strain on the club’s already difficult financial situation and its compliance with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules (PSR)."
