It's setbacks galore at Leicester City Football Club right now. Although the team returned to winning ways against Norwich City, performances and results have been quite poor for the majority of the season. Under Marti Cifuentes, progress has stagnated somewhat.

Whether this development is entirely down to the City hierarchy not properly backing the former Queens Park Rangers head coach is up for debate. I'd argue that Cifuentes was not given the appropriate summer transfer window to achieve what LCFC bosses aim for. But who am I to comment?!

Cifuentes hasn't done too badly. There aren't many team selection issues to pinpoint; he could have used youths more but that's not guaranteed to be a success either. I've got a feeling that the Catalonian would be quite an impressive gaffer if allowed to assemble his own side and ethos.

For that eventuality to occur, the Foxes probably have to sell before buying. Why so? Essentially the East Midlanders must ensure their losses are correctly offset against profit. Should some undesirable players be sold, Leicester may find themselves in a position to buy.

So which of the personnel on Filbert Way could be relinquished and utilised so to acquire superior ballers?

Leicester City may offload Luke Thomas and Wout Faes amid growing transfer rumours

First of all, Thomas has never been able to fully establish himself at King Power Stadium. Unsuccessful loans to Middlesbrough and Sheffield United should have been enough foreshadowing for those with recruitment powers at Leicester.

Apparently, and annoyingly, City declined a €5 million offer for the left back from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim during the previous January transfer window earlier this year. Hopefully the Germans, or Charlton Athletic, might still perhaps be interested. Here's what Football League World said:

"Charlton Athletic can find perfect Thierry Small replacement at Leicester City [in Luke Thomas] – January move should be eyed"

Faes is also the subject of ostensible interest as well. The majority of the Blue Army would be pleased if the club do indeed decide to cash in there; the Belgian's contract expires in 2027.

"Leicester City defender Wout Faes is ‘likely’ to be the subject of transfer speculation in January, as detailed in a report by LeicestershireLive."
