More than one player is holding on to a starting spot in the Leicester City lineup. I could mention at least four or five in the team who are not good enough, or are not playing up to their usual standard - or this football club's! However, today (Friday, October 24) I would like to focus on a single Foxes starter.
The defender in question has never really been up to the level that City desire if the owner of the organisation's aspirations are genuine. And that assessment applies in both the Premier League as well as the Championship.
If LCFC, or The King Power International Group, hadn't created financial and restrictive problems over the past few years, you would imagine that the academy product would not be anywhere near the XI. Had recruitment been superior, he would have actually been replaced when his Danish teammate and, ultimately, a rival at left back arrived. But Victor Kristiansen does not have the right ingredients either.
"Leicester Mercury wrote: “His [Thomas's] attempted interception left him in no man’s land for the first goal, and then he lost all track of Gelhardt for the second."London World
Irrespective, it is no surprise that Leicester have been told to drop full back Luke Thomas. The suggestion also carries the allegation that Thomas was indeed at fault for both Hull City goals in the previous match which the East Midlanders unfortunately lost at MKM Stadium. The sentiment, which cannot be described as outlandish, is that the footballer will be shown up again if Foxes head coach Marti Cifuentes continues to select him.
Why Leicester City should replace Luke Thomas even though his successor is inadequate as well
London World have suggested that Thomas's omission is the appropriate measure. As you can tell, I'm not a fan of his either.
"The tricky forward is proving impossible to keep track of that, something that doesn’t bode well for Leicester City left back Luke Thomas. The 24-year-old, who has bags of Premier League experience, has been an ever present for the Foxes this season but struggled in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Hull City on Tuesday night... "
The angle here is that Millwall's Femi Azeez would bypass Thomas too easily. Although, the alternative in Kristiansen isn't appealing either, but cannot really be any worse. Maybe Bade Aluko is the best replacement.
