At a time when Leicester City desperately need a new striker, the Foxes are annoyingly linked with signing at least two wingers for their squad. On the occasion that a promising up-and-coming goalkeeper is given the No.1 shirt and an opportunity to impress, LCFC become unnecessarily connected with a possible swoop for a rival stopper. Don't get me wrong, the man in question is a class act and seemingly a solid professional.
This particular, so-called Leicester transfer target certainly showed his quality versus the East Midlanders at King Power Stadium at the weekend. But I would argue that we don't need him, and he is unlikely to join to sit on the substitute's bench watching Jakub Stolarczyk succeed. However, City would also be wise not to dismiss or ignore the low seeming £8 million apparent asking price for the young stopper. It's a poser I tell ya! What does speculation tell us, and what's our verdict?
Leicester City transfer target stood out against Foxes
I usually watch City with dad; who's supported Leicester since way back in the late 60s. He isn't as verbose as me, although he often picks out a player he admires. He selected Pierce Charles versus Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
The Owls goalie gave the air of a seasoned pro at only age 20. Charles began with Manchester City's youth set-up; a notable feather in any footballer's cap. Then the Northern Ireland international switched to Wednesday.
"The young shot-stopper is fancied by several clubs including Leicester, Southampton and Rangers."Alan Nixon, EFL Analysis
Yep, that's right. Charles is already a National Team representative at that tender age. Being a 'keeper makes the feat even more impressive because they typically mature later.
Brilliant shot-stopping and composure on the ball aside, we don't need Pierce Charles
As you can tell, I'm already a big fan of the Owls goalie as well. £8m will be a bargain to somebody. Yet Leicester so require a centre forward; I'd prefer funds and concentration there.
