The transfer window was very steady for Leicester City - until the hectic deadline day began. Though even that busy 24 hours was conducted with seeming grace and efficiency by the LCFC recruitment department and whoever else is involved at King Power Stadium. Don't worry, I'm not going to praise Jon Rudkin any time fast. Nevertheless, the Foxes' foray into the market was, kind of, a miraculous success.

Although, a few targets got away from Marti Cifuentes' evolving and now ever-changing Leicester team. We heard stories about the Leicestershire side's interest in acquiring quite a few different footballers. A few examples are thus: Calvin Stengs, Mihailo Ivanovic, Joao Rego, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Anton Saletros, William Bøving, Issa Kabore and Jonas Omlin, to name but a few.

One other man said to be on the East Midlands outfit's list is, or was, a talented and productive Championship winger. The player in question competes for Portsmouth at the moment; with a twin brother playing in the Premier League with Newcastle United. While reports suggest Leicester wanted to sign the Pompey star, they were shy of actually bidding for the 30-year-old. Yet LCFC may well return to secure his signature in January 2026. What's being claimed, and what is our verdict?

Leicester City wanted to sign Josh Murphy without bidding but may return for target during January window

You may recall that I was staunchly against Leicester recruiting a winger last month. If Abdul Fatawu had left (heaven forbid) then matters would have changed. Though that scenario never felt likely.

Irrespective, Josh Murphy is a wideman who can aid a tier two promotion bid. But his Portsmouth employers would like to keep him; and will reportedly attempt to do so with an improved deal.

West Bromwich Albion made rejected offers. City hold an interest. The Fratton Park team will have to act fast to retain their star after New Year.
