There are holes in the Leicester City squad at present. Injury has unfortunately given Marti Cifuentes compounded problems on the already rocky road the Foxes walk upon. We can reportedly expect attacking midfielder Aaron Ramsey to miss some vital action followed a 'popping' sound coming from his hamstring and a subsequent withdrawal versus Millwall last weekend.
This means, it is claimed, that the Burnley loanee could innocently (on this occasion) burden LCFC with up to a month's absence. And we need Ramsey, if you ask me; he's currently the best or most effective No.10 in the side. Hopefully the Catalan in charge at Leicester can devise a plan because alternative playmaker, or second striker, Bobby De Cordova-Reid is also suffering from a hamstring issue.
Besides the team's fitness concerns, the former Queens Park Rangers man has several underperforming and unsatisfactory stars on his hands. Judging by my quick headcount, I believe four or five spots are now up for grabs in the City starting XI following consecutive defeats. I would like to look at Leicester's 'first-choice' left back, Luke Thomas, as one example.
As a matter of fact, Thomas is actually tipped to be dropped by a Leicester expert. Typical alternative Victor Kristiansen is not expected to be the man to replace the Englishman. So, will Cifuentes offer an up-and-coming youth player an opportunity?
Full back Luke Thomas hangs on to place by thread as capable and highly rated Leicester City teenager Olabade (or just Bade) Aluko waits in the wings
'Give Bade Aluko a chance'. That's my new mantra - you're welcome to use it!
In all seriousness, I am fed up with Thomas in a footballing sense. I've never been a fan of his (except when he happened to be defending two of Mo Salah's rare off days).
Aluko is probably preferable to Kristiansen too. Leicester Mercury writer Jordan Blackwell accordingly agrees. Below are his thoughts:
"Perhaps now it’s time to afford him a break from the team. Now would be a good time for Cifuentes to hand Bade Aluko his first City start. Not only would he be giving Thomas a breather, but the manager would also be showing his actions can match his words.Leicester Mercury
There’s a growing frustration among supporters that Cifuentes has spoken about the drawing on the high-potential youngsters in the club’s academy, but not followed that up, in spite of the underperformance of more senior players."
