Unfortunate for Leicester City, one of their defenders has suffered what is being described as a "serious" injury. This development could turn into a complete nightmare issue for the East Midlands outfit. The player in question, whom Foxes' Blue Army fan base have championed for a long time, has only just been added to the starting team. That player's name: Ben Nelson. The injury: the ankle.
However, it's not all doom and gloom on Filbert Way after all. That's because City could have easily sustained another specifically unneeded and prolonged absence. Though that scenario may have been avoided, as a possibly crucial diagnosis is said to have transpired elsewhere. The other report concerns Caleb Okoli; who recently impressed enough in a somewhat inverted right back role. What's the latest on the Italian centre half in addition to Nelson's news?
Leicester City suffer fitness setback with Ben Nelson problem labelled "serious"
Nelson was impressive versus Norwich City as the Foxes thankfully reverted to winning. Although the 21-year-old's involvement was overdue, according to many of us amongst the support.
That majoritive fan sentiment was proven absolutely correct following Nelson's timely and capable introduction against the Canaries. Unfortunately his presence may not be counted on for a while. The below report apparently confirms the faithful's fears:
"The centre-back looks to have suffered a serious ankle injury in the win over Norwich, the 21-year-old landing awkwardly after winning a header and then heading off on a stretcher."Jordan Blackwell, Leicester Mercury
Promising update on Caleb Okoli
Okoli was a rather surprise inclusion at full back for the Middlesbrough match. He did play at CB in the dreadful Blackburn Rovers defeat previously. Yet the Boro clash was the first time fans saw Okoli at RB.
The presumption was that the once Frosinone and Atalanta man would slot into a new three-centre back system. That expectation was half-right: the formation appears to be hybrid in and out of possession.
Impressively, Okoli already feels fairly accustomed to the dual role (Luke Ayling challenge aside). But the former might perhaps be required centrally once more:
"It’s understood the Italian’s injury is not as concerning as Nelson’s."
