A potentially massively impactful triple injury blow has further affected the confidence of newly promoted Leicester City ahead of the eagerly anticipated Premier League opener. Playing Tottenham Hotspur is another worry in general for the Foxes, because of Spurs' sheer attacking prowess.

Fans, pundits and now even LCFC-specific journalists are concerned for the east Midlands side before kicking off 2024/25. Will City be able to survive the opening match, or the season at large? And, following the aforementioned bombshell, how will the King Power club cope against Spurs?

Worry rocks Leicester City fan base, writers and experts

I can assure you that the Blue Army are collectively looking forward to the new season, as we always do. However, justifiable pessimism has crept in on Filbert Way. And it isn't just the Foxes faithful who are hugely anxious about the side's competence and capacity to handle surely the most daunting of upcoming campaigns.

As a football blogger, I don't see many positive signs from Leicester just before starting a fresh term. There are usually a couple of things to excite and stimulate supporters prior to kick-off. Although, this LCFC preseason hasn't offered much in the form of optimism.

Though, I do believe that there may perhaps have been one or two low-key promising signings. Caleb Okoli could become an unexpected EPL success, maybe; Bobby De Cordova-Reid is an underrated top-flight-standard player by my judgement. But City have had every opportunity to sign a decent striker and have failed to do so.

The lack of a proven goalscorer to choose from as Spurs are welcomed to the King Power is worrying in the extreme. Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka have sadly been respectively ruled out of Monday's fixture. Unfortunately Daka will be unavailable for months due to requiring surgery on his injured ankle.

Meanwhile Vardy, still Leicester's talisman at 37, remains in recovery. Thankfully Foxes manager Steve Cooper revealed that the former England international is closer to rejoining the squad than Daka. Hopefully 'Vards' is back as soon as possible - as we desperately need him!

And the only recognised fit centre forward, Tom Cannon, isn't even expected to begin the Spurs clash. Stephy Mavididi is more likely to begin up front according to speculation we've heard. The other fitness update was unfortunate too. Throwback centre half Conor Coady is also unfit; a hamstring problem sidelines the one-time Everton man from action.
