Up until the time of writing this very article, Leicester City Football Club have failed to make any summer 2026 signings. And, yes, that situation is a particular worry to Foxes fans who were hoping to see new manager Russell Martin assembling a new starting line-up by now.
Few members of the Blue Army even wanted Martin to begin with, to be candid. Yet the former Scotland international is now gradually winning LCFC supporters over following a difficult end to his Southampton tenure, not to mention an underwhelming spell north of the border in Glasgow with Rangers.
The even more concerning element here is that Leicester's League One rivals are making moves in the transfer market. As a matter of fact, every single tier three side has made one loan or acquisition at least, whilst the East Midlands outfit suffer indecision once again.
This is a big concern: considering City are in a state of evolution after tumbling down the English divisions. However, good news has emerged from Martin himself, with the latest Leicester gaffer speaking to Leicester Mercury reporter Josh Holland following the 3-0 friendly match defeat of Northampton Town on Saturday afternoon at LCFC'S Seagrave Training Ground.

Indeed, when quizzed by Holland, the 40-year-old informed the journalist that he 'expects new arrivals to come to King Power Stadium fairly soon'. The, naturally, unnamed players in question could potentially be Danny Ings and Conor Chaplin.
Spoke to Russell Martin and Will Alves after today’s game.

The City boss tells me he expects new ‘arrivals’ to arrive fairly soon. #LCFC
Danny Ings stands out as a high-profile but ageing target who brings a wealth of Premier League and EFL Championship experience and (hopefully) goals to a youthful squad. At 33 years of age, the former Liverpool and England forward offers clinical finishing ability and a professional demeanor that could prove invaluable as City navigate the upcoming season.
Equally intriguing is the potential arrival of Conor Chaplin, a 29-year-old playmaker/second striker whose reputation for promotion is well-established. Having been a key figure during Ipswich Town's back-to-back climbs through the divisions, his technical craft and intimate knowledge of the rigors of lower league football would surely provide the creative spark City recently lacked.
The hint of imminent activity serves as a necessary balm for an anxious fan base in Leicestershire. Whether these prospective signings actually materialise is one question; another is whether or not they can hit the ground running. It remains to be seen, but the intent to rejuvenate the squad is finally becoming tangible.
