In this season's English second division, there are a plethora of standout players. With the Premier League being the apex of world's domestic football leagues, the actual standard of the Championship is increasing too. Some of our tier two teams could give other sides from (supposedly) 'top European competitions' such as Ligue 1 a run for their money. Leicester City would arguably be the prime example in that respect.
The Foxes have invariably made the C'ship more entertaining, increased its following and added further glamour, as we see it. Other outfits such as Ipswich Town, Southampton and Middlesbrough and others also have eye-catching squads in some regards. Basically, quite a few Championship players could and did previously thrive in the top flight. Professionals like Harry Winks and, possibly, Jordan Ayew are two examples.
Evidently many of these standouts in LCFC's current division are certainly paid Prem wages, judging by the mouthwatering claims published by an article citing Capology. And it is indeed salaries and starting lineups we are looking at today. Well, the highest-paid Championship XI in fact. So which six Leicester stars made the group? Let's have a look.
Six Leicester City stars make highest-paid Championship XI
We are referring to Football League World for this lineup. It's a good one. First of all, Southampton stopper Alex McCarthy makes the cut as the richest goalkeeper this year.
The defence contains a pair of LCFC stars: Jannik Vestergaard at centre back, and Foxes captain and full back Ricardo Pereira. They are said to be on £80,000-per-week and £60k respectively.
"Alongside him [Winks] is fellow Leicester midfielder Boubakary Soumare, who is said to earn £80,000 per week in the East Midlands."FLW
Ben Godfrey of Sheffield United and Middlesbrough's Matt Targett round off the back line. City's defensive midfielders are included: Winks (£90k-p-w) and Boubakary Soumare (£80k). They are joined by Southampton's Joe Aribo.
The front line contains Bobby De Cordova-Reid (£35k), Ryan Fraser (Southampton) and Patson Daka (£75k).
