One supposedly prime Leicester City transfer target didn't end up coming to the King Power this summer. Some of us in the Blue Army fan base, including myself, were disappointed that this very underrated and totally proven Championship asset decided against coming to Leicestershire for whatever reason. And it appears that the reason could well be a financial one, judging by the destination and salaries said to be on offer.
So, why did Josh Brownhill reportedly turn down a ridiculously lucrative and flattering offer from the famous English Foxes? Why did he prefer a move to sign for Saudi Pro League club, Al Shabab? Are the East Midlands outfit's similar signings good enough to cover player's like the former Burnley star? And what else has been claimed about City and other sides by the journalist making revelations? Let's get to it.
Foxes funding increases but only loans materialise
Irrespective of LCFC apparently taking in as much as £79 million in transfer fees over the offseason and most recently, they spent nothing on players. Certain supporters weren't best pleased with that outcome. Though we hope the Profit and Sustainability problems are behind us now.
Although the recruitment was thinly veiled with nothing spent (which won't deceive fan networks such as Foxes of Leicester), the trio loaned in are seemingly satisfactory at the very least. Time will tell!
Top Leicester City transfer target to sign for Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab
I designated Brownhill as City's "top transfer target' because they ostensibly offered him a whopping £100,000-a-week wages. That would have supposedly made the ex-Clarets midfielder the highest paid Leicester star, above Harry Winks' £90,000.
"Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what sources have told him about the 29-year-old’s future amid interest from Premier League and Championship clubs."Football Insider
So, I therefore imagine that Al Shabab bettered that figure, likely by some distance. Reporter Pete O’Rourke believes Leeds United, West Ham United, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested too.
