In truth, it was always going to be difficult for Steve Cooper to form a relationship with the Leicester City supporters. This is because before he arrived as Foxes boss, he was tarnished with the unfortunate Nottingham Forest brush.

Steve Cooper managed just two wins in 12 Premier League games. He did see Leicester City to 16th in the Premier League standings before he was given the orders to leave his chair.

So, what were the exact reasons why Leicester City decided it was best to part ways with Steve Cooper?

According to BBC Sport, there appear to be two main reasons why Leicester City deemed it necessary to omit Steve Cooper from their plan.

The first reason presented by the BBC was Leicester's fears about being sacked from the Premier League this season. The Foxes want to stay up at all costs and they were growing fearful that keeping Cooper at the helm would only jeopardise their chances.

The second reason is that Leicester felt a disconnect between Steve Cooper and the Leicester City players. While Cooper tried to embed himself into the club culture, even inviting club legends such as Matt Elliott to teach him about the culture, the Leicester owners felt like Cooper was out of place.

BBC further report that Steve Cooper was at a disadvantage at Leicester City, due to his past with Nottingham Forest. All of this combined, meant that Leicester deemed it necessary to part ways with Cooper.

Admittedly, the decision did feel like a long time coming. However, considering Cooper only managed 12 league matches at the pride of East Midlands, it must be said that this feels like a quick decision in hindsight.

Still, Leicester City will only look forwards now. They are in a strong position to avoid relegation, but they must be careful in their recruitment process.
