Leicester City travel to Watford, desperate to immediately bounce back from a dire 3-1 loss at the hands of Queens Park Rangers.

In stark contrast, the Hornets will be praying that the wins keep flowing, amid a purple patch in form in the Championship, as a recent 3-1 win over Wrexham has sparked their late playoff push.

Regarding such a contest, for the outsider looking in, the cliche will be that Edward Still's hosts must guard against any complacency seeping in, considering the often rudderless Foxes haven't won on their travels since December, and are sat in the miserable relegation zone.

On Leicester's end, the match-up will be seen as a clash where they can send shockwaves to the rest of the relegation pack that they're actually serious about their survival chances, by pulling off an unexpected win, rather than viewing it as a faraway pipedream.

Previous matches between the two

Leicester have experienced varying levels of success on their visits to Watford in the recent past.

Of course, nobody can forget when the Foxes' Championship promotion dreams crashed and burned right at the death in 2013 at Vicarage Road, when Troy Deeney slammed home a killer blow.

Since then, they have picked up notable wins, thankfully, with a 5-1 success over the Hornets in 2022 finally acting as payback.

The reverse fixture earlier in the season saw Watford, who were managed by Javi Gracia at the time, come away from the King Power with a 2-1 victory, on a chilly Boxing Day.

Historically, the head-to-head numbers suggest that Leicester have an edge, with Watford winning 22 clashes, Leicester winning 35, and 18 draws have also occurred.

TV coverage

As per the 3pm blackout rules, Leicester's match away at Watford will not be televised, with the Foxes next on the Sky Sports+ coverage on Good Friday, when Preston North End travel to the King Power in another high-stakes affair.

Team news

Rowett's task of pulling off an upset on his side's travels down to Watford has been made harder by a string of injuries still impacting his team selections.

Indeed, Asmir Begovic, Harry Souttar, and Jannick Vestergaard all remain sidelined through injury difficulties, with the defensive trio expected to be back in action for April, while Burnley loanee Aaron Ramsey is deemed too unwell to feature.

Predicted Leicester City starting XI

Stolarczyk; Thomas, Okoli, Lascelles, Pereira; Skipp, James; Mavididi, Mukasa, Fatawu; Daka.

Score prediction

Leicester have won their last two trips here, with a third the stuff of dreams.

I'll say they'll manage another draw under Rowett, in a 1-1 affair.
