Over the previous three or four years, Wout Faes has been one of the most underwhelming and vilified players at Leicester City. Although this outlet and author do not wish verbal abuse on anybody, the Belgium international has invited harsh critique and negative appraisals from Leicester's Blue Army faithful and beyond.
Faes' LCFC performances over three or so seasons were a total let down considering his reputation, which far exceeds his skills, in the words of Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead's Critical Bill. The CB wasn't as strong or combative in the air, nor on the ground, as is required for the English Premier League and the EFL Championship.
Supporters in England expect a whole lot more from their stars, especially those expensive, National Team representatives. Faes didn't just let his club down as an organisation, he also disappointed and failed to return the faith shown in him by Foxes fans.
A loan to AS Monaco was received well in LE2; as a matter of fact, you could say that City supporters rejoiced! Though the struggling defender was definitely 'found out' in France, so to speak.
The les Rouge et Blanc support certainly noticed that very same erratic, unwarranted and unwelcome defending from the Belgian Fox. An option for the French side to acquire Faes was in place; Leicester consequently fans quietly felt semi-confident.
Why Monaco rejected Wout Faes after finding out - will he stay at Leicester City?
Joking aside, many of those in the Leicestershire side's support secretly harboured a feeling that the deal would be scuppered by the 28-year-old's incompetence. That sentiment was proven correct when the two clubs failed to reach a permanent agreement.

AS Monaco will ultimately not exercise the purchase option included in the loan contract for Wout Faes.
He will return to Leicester This summer but he’s still likely to get a transfer @Nice_Matin pic.twitter.com/f1WFkdUN0L
Unfortunately, the King Power club and Monaco Sport Investment Ltd reportedly could not find an agreement regardless the athlete's price. Clearly, the potential suitors are not as keen as previously understood, leaving the defender in a precarious position as he faces an uncertain return to England. However, Faes is not expected to remain with Leicester for next season.
