How to maintain first-half energy?

Against Everton, Leicester City  were back to their best. They were in full counter-attacking mode as the ball appeared glued to Demarai Gray’s feet.

However, after taking a 2-0 lead, they dropped very deep and allowed Everton to dominate possession while not posing a huge threat on the counter.

A better team than the Toffees could have given Leicester some serious problems despite a good defensive performance. The opposition didn’t really threaten the Foxes, and only managed 0.77 Expected Goals despite chasing a two goal lead. (Via Infogol)

Midfielders Vicente Iborra and Wilfried Ndidi dropped far too deep, but without Shinji Okazaki pressing ahead of them, they had to resort to a low block.

As the Stoke game is away from home, Leicester are likely to see less of the ball in the first half, and Puel must make sure that they still pose an attacking threat.
