Claude Puel: Leicester City must keep balance of emotion, self-control
The triumph at Cardiff City was a phenomenal achievement for Leicester City, after enduring disastrous tragedy. Manager Claude Puel says a balance of emotion and self-control will help his side defeat Burnley on Saturday.
Just as lcfc.com stated on their social media accounts after the amazingly poignant scenes at Cardiff on Saturday: Leicester City is “a special club”. To find the composure, solidarity and unity to produce a solid team performance and three points – for Khun Vichai – after the chairman’s horrific passing seven days before is phenomenal.
Claude Puel calls for continuing exercising of self-control, in regards to emotions, against Burnley at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League this Saturday. In order to gain another win in the name of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. In what is the first home game since the late owner’s helicopter devastatingly crashed at the ground a week ago.
The upcoming – surely heartbreaking – occasion, will be a difficult one for all associated with the Foxes. Although, the enormous memorial site, loving tributes and events like the ‘Walk for Vichai‘ will be heartwarming.
Leicester Mercury quote the Leicester City manager as proclaiming himself with the responsibility of enabling the players to make a good, professional, performance:
"“I have to find the good balance. I’m the manager, I have to consult all my players. They want to give their best, they want to perform for the chairman.“All the people have the same solidarity, the same feeling. After it’s important for me to keep the way, to prepare the players and to keep always the balance between emotion and self-control.“If we want to honour our chairman we have to control our emotions. At Cardiff they had concentration and focus on the pitch. It was great, it was nice of course.“We cannot allow our chairman just to see emotion. It’s important to find the good balance – ready to play, ready to play at their best level like in Cardiff.”"
Back in the East Midlands this weekend, winning for Khun Vichai is a fantastic way to pay tribute; as happened through Demarai Gray’s goal in Wales. However, as the gaffer said before, correctly: at this precise, affecting time, results – or even football – matters not.
"Puel continues on Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha‘s message to the players:“We have messages of course, not just before the game.“In the stadium we shared a lot of things and I would like to thank him of course because he shared all these difficult feelings with us like a family.“With the fans, with the staff, with the players. I’m proud that we succeeded in the first game just to honour his father.”– Claude Puel(all quotes via: LCFC Live)"
It was also comforting to see Puel receive a song and applause from the Blue Army. Scrutiny under limited time – is one way to view his rating among the faithful, generally. A pondering, subtle man, perfect for the moment. Dignity, is a word now strongly attributed to the entire Leicester City ‘family’ – fittingly secured as a movingly suitable moniker.
That since, the whole community: owner’s family, players, staff and supporters became one in unison. An example above, as the 57-year-old gaffer tells of Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha’s strength and impressive levels of supporting his club – even in the vice-chairman’s darkest days.
Leicester City’s match versus the Clarets kicks off at 3pm GMT, November 10, at the King Power. Burnley currently sit at a disappointing 15th, while the Foxes are a satisfactory 10th place. European qualification was both club’s preseason aspiration. Expect a fierce clash, yet, a suitably emotive occasion, respected by all; much as Khun Vichai.
