On Sunday afternoon Leicester City lost to Chelsea in the FA Cup. More bad news emerged with star player James Maddison set to miss the next game.
Since returning post Premier League suspension, Leicester City have had an uneasy transition. After the loss and knockout at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-final, the mood must be rather dejected in the Foxes squad.
The so-called ‘leadership group‘ appointed by Brendan Rodgers to implement his vision and reinforce his message, on as well as off the pitch, must now come to the forefront and reignite a fire in the team. Because that was the main element seemingly missing in the Blues defeat: not fitness or always quality, but passion.
Although, naturally the performance wasn’t that adept or the Leicester side would’ve found the net on at least one occasion. Yet they struggled for inspiration for most of the game.
However, in the first period, up to around 25 minutes in, the East Midlands outfit made decided chances. Not all were clear-cut or well-made, though opportunities did arise. Players like Harvey Barnes epitomized the display from some: lots of positive movement but devoid of poise.
James Maddison a serious doubt for Leicester city v Everton
James Maddison missed the clash with Chelsea due to what the club said was a knock before the contest. Unfortunately it appears that the England man is unlikely to play versus Everton in the next outing on Wednesday.
