Leicester and Wolves to fight for Merih Demiral
Wolverhampton Wanderers are apparently now in the running to sign Juventus centre-back, Merih Demiral. The Turk is a longtime Leicester City target.
Another top-class centre-half is something certainly on Leicester City’s wanted list. It’s not the most important of additions necessary on Filbert Way, that would be an elite, specialist, left-footed right-winger. That’s a bit of a mouthful, I know, but it is exactly what is needed. Imagine a suitable replacement for Riyad Mahrez, finally – a few years after the Algerian departed.
Though, since the plague of injuries which have stricken Brendan Rodgers’ squad, it is evident that another premium central defender is required. Wes Morgan and Ryan Bennett are not up to standard in the Premier League, realistically. Well, not if the club wants to challenge teams such as Manchester United towards the summit of the English top-flight.
Now, with the Foxes boss determined to phase in his version of a 3-man centre-back partnership, a qualify, proven top European division athlete will slot in perfectly. This may turn out to be returned loanee Fox Filip Benkovic, who is back from Bristol City; he is inexperienced at the highest level, however. Another option is to sign known talent.
Leicester City to battle for Merih Demiral
According to speculation from respected Italian transfer expert, Nicolo Schira, Merih Demiral of Juventus is still a target for the King Power outfit. Although, the 22-year-old is not expected to be sold cheaply, a €30 million offer, including add-ons, has already been rejected.
In a story carried by TEAMtalk, it is claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers will rival Leicester City for the Turkish international.
