Leicester want experienced defender, Brazilian targeted
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is apparently targeting another experienced centre-back for his squad in 2020/21. Juan Jesus of Roma is linked.
On Friday evening the football universe finally had the worst kept transfer secret all but confirmed. Major and reliable media sources suggested Ben Chilwell’s move from Leicester City to Premier League rivals Chelsea is about to be completed.
A deal should be announced next week between the Foxes, the Blues along with the England international. You can read all known details by clicking here.
Leicester City want more experience at back
It has been reported multiple times that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers believes that he requires another centre-back at King Power Stadium. This is debatable, with the hugely impressive partnership of Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu. Then there is the highly-rated returning Croat, Filip Benkovic.
However, Evans is in the final year of his City contact now. To prevent him leaving for free, Rodgers might agree to a sale. Meaning either Benkovic would be promoted to play alongside Soyuncu in defence, or another option needs to be signed. Veteran captain Wes Morgan is the only other rather undesirable choice.
According to speculation, the East Midlanders have identified a target from Italian top-flight, Serie A. 29 year old Juan Jesus of Roma is apparently tempted by the Foxes.
Media in Italy have been discussing a possible switch for a couple of days now, with Cagliari supposedly rivals for the signature. Currently, it is unknown if Leicester have approached I Giallorossi.
