Leicester City fans will absolutely love what Brendan Rodgers recently said about his Foxes team’s aim to win trophies.

In Foxes of Leicester’s opinion, the Premier League has improved fairly drastically in 2020/21. There have been some wonderful additions to the division: James Rodriguez, Thomas Partey and Wesley Fofana, to name but a few.

Overall, teams have strengthened well. Then there is even a promoted, fresh addition to the top-flight who have made a great impression. But more about the new boys later.

Leicester City’s ambition will delight fans

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has recently made some comments about his squad, the current season, as well as their aspirations going forward. And the Blue Army will truly love those comments. First of all, the faithful will have to face some difficult to hear facts about the team: the Northern Irishman believes the Foxes cannot yet be considered as a ‘top-six’ side.

That assertion comes despite the manager’s side finishing fifth in last season’s Premier League; when they should have ended up at least fourth. Not to mention, of course, the top-flight title win in 2016.

However, Rodgers stated that they – meaning everyone involved at all levels with Leicester City, staff and players – “want trophies”, according to Leicestershire Live.

A maiden FA Cup trophy on Filbert Way has been coveted by Leicester supporters for some generations now, in all honesty. Therefore this ambition and hunger must be admired.

Next up for the east Midlands team is Leeds United. I must say, they are a more effective Whites than we’ve seen for well over a decade. Marcelo Bielsa has done a stupendous job in revolutionising the famous Yorkshire club. They will provide a stern test for Rodgers‘ men. Additionally, the latter’s footballing ethos mirrors Bielsa’s, as the Northern Irishman was impacted by the Argentine’s imaginative play.
